20070418_0076_Ibiquity_Hospitality_Suite.jpg (239881 bytes)

Ibiquity had a hospitality suite at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas for the 2007 NAB.  Open for a couple hours on three days, it was crowded the whole time I was in it.

Pretty much every radio available was on display, with the exception of Kenwood car stereos, and DaySequerra high-end tuners.

All the radios were connected by coax to an outside antenna.

On April 18th, I played with most of them, moving counter-clockwise in the room.

Ibiquity has a list of radio vendors at http://www.ibiquity.com/hd_radio/hdradio_buy_an_hd_radio

20070418_0072._Visteon_HD_Jump.jpg (225966 bytes) The Visteon HD Jump, $299.  A small receiver that can move from car cradle to home cradle.

20070418_0071_Radiosophy_Multistream_HD.jpg (239313 bytes) The Radiosophy Multistream HD, now $269.  The radio "block" is removeable, and comes with a whip antenna.

20070418_0059_Radiosophy_HD-100.jpg (232222 bytes) The Radiosophy HD-100, their second model, $99 introductory price, supposed to be out in May.  It has some car stereo- like features, like scan.  The answer to the need for a "boom box."

This was a prototype.

20070418_0058_Visteon_HD_Pulse.jpg (236507 bytes) Visteon HD Pulse, $199, coming "soon."  I really liked this one, easier to use than the Boston Acoustics Receptor HD (push in on the big dial to select things), and it also displays RDS.

Not on there website as of 4/24.

20070418_0056_Accurian_HD-TTR.jpg (208003 bytes) Radio Shack's Accurian HD-TTR, $199 (but has been on sale for as low as $99).  Alleged to receive analog AM Stereo.

20070418_0075_Alpine_TUA-T500HD.jpg (204120 bytes) Like the Kenwood car stereos, an Alpine TUA-T500HD HD Tuner needs a car stereo.
The CDA-9883 for $230 appears to be the least expensive unit that uses the HD Radio tuner.

20070418_0057_Boston_Acoustics_Receptor_HD.jpg (216857 bytes) Boston Acoustics Receptor HD, still $299, and the one to beat, hence all the competing radios of about the same size and price.  Displays RDS.

and see the product manual at http://www.bostonacoustics.com/manuals/RRHDMAN.pdf
20070418_0073_Peripheral_P-HDRT.jpg (238444 bytes) Peripheral P-HDRT.  No price, "3rd Quarter 2007," just a mockup of the carton and unit, looks like it is an iPod and HD Radio interface for Original Equipment Car Stereos.  Later on, a second piece appeared that I didn't get a picture of, but I imagine it was the receiver.

Looks a lot like the items displayed at http://www.isimplesolutions.com/

20070418_0060_Polk_Audio_I-Sonic.jpg (194731 bytes) Polk Audio I-Sonic.  $599.  The most information on a screen.  The buttons are "soft" and change functions with the display.  Plays CDs and DVDs and has a video output.

Learn more at http://isonic.polkaudio.com/ , including a chart comparing it to five other radios, including the Boston Acoustic Receptor HD.

20070418_0061_Ibiquity_Mobile_Sound_rack.jpg (224952 bytes) All of the mobile units were in a rack.

The Directed DMHD-1000, $199,  was feeding the Delco car radio.  It displays RDS, but not on the radio it feeds.  (Directed owns Polk Audio)  Learn more at
http://www.directed.com/Products/MobileAudio/HDRadio.aspx

I own a JVC KD-HDR1, which is a fully-functioned car stereo, and the easiest to buy, with a list price of $199.   Walmart sells it online for $188 at http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5645812 .

20070418_0062_Sangean_HDT-1.jpg (222620 bytes) The Sangean HDT-1, at $199, actually has an "SSI bar graph" (signal quality) you can display.  It may be the least expensive "component" tuner on sale.  It displays RDS and would fit nicely on a rack-mount shelf.

and see the owner's manual at http://www.sangean.com/downloads/manuals/HDT-1_MAN.pdf
20070418_0063_Polk_Audio_other_receiver.jpg (248315 bytes) Polk Audio is making this HD Receiver with a CD player, but I don't have a model number or price for it, and it wasn't on the Polk Audio website as of 4/25.

We cranked it, and it sounds great!

20070418_0065_Directed_DHHD-1000.jpg (198794 bytes) Directed Electronics DHHD-1000 table radio, for $249, displays RDS.  Didn't get a chance to play with this one.  Learn more at
http://www.directed.com/Products/MobileAudio/HDRadio.aspx
20070418_0066_Metra_Axxess.jpg (143779 bytes) Metra Axxess HDRT-01, an HD Radio adapter stemming from an iPod adapter for OEM radios.  "Available "3rd Qiarter 2007."  Metra makes a huge line of car stereo installation products.  Much like the products at https://wire-tunes.com/
20070418_0067_Sangean_HDR-1.jpg (207264 bytes) The Sangean HDR-1 for $249 is one of several HD table radios they make, and it displays RDS.
Learn more at http://www.sangean.com/product.php?model=HDR-1
and an owner's manual at http://www.sangean.com/downloads/manuals/HDR-1_MAN.pdf
20070418_0068_Cambridge_SoundWorks_HD820.jpg (195371 bytes) Cambridge SoundWorks HD820, for $299.  Everyone was amazed at how much this radio weighed, and the web site says "Magnetic shielding allows placement close to TVs, computer monitors and magnetic media."  It also come in "Onyx."  Learn more at
