moved KPTV 12 into the same building.

Welcome
to Fox 49!
Chief Meteorologist Mark Nelsen
working the kinks out of the not-quite-completed
weather center.
A Grass Valley Kalypso switcher
makes up the heart of News Control. GVG Profile XP's,
iNews newsroom system, Avid NewsCutters, Pinnacle and Quantel
graphics round out the system.
Master control combines comfort for
the operator with a very flexible monitor wall projection system. The system can display up to 32 separate sources
and can be reconfigured with one key-touch.
KPDX takes E.N.G. safety very
seriously.These signs are posted throughout
the facility
and combine with a continuous training program to remind the van operators that safety
is always more important than any news story
ever will be.
The Chief's office always looks like
this - not just during a project build.
When the master control operator has
to be "out of the room" - we want to make sure they can keep track of what's
happening on-air and how much
time they have left to wash their hands.
The tech shop gets cleaned about
once every two weeks - then we spend another
week
trying to find all the stuff that got put away...
News audio about half completed. The room serves as a post suite with Protools
and so on as well as the audio control room for the news program
itself.
