Job Description: Serves as Regional Field Engineer (Head-End). The
Regional Field Engineer will support local receive facilities throughout CA, OR
and NV. Position coordinates activities with the Field Engineering Manager to
ensure technical quality of picture and sound for local channel programming.
Applicant must be self-motivated, able to work long hours when necessary and
travel extensively. Position will also be required to be on 24 hour call. Will
be required to work from a home or remote office and may base in any of the
states within the region. Company provided vehicle, laptop and cell phone.
Installs, maintains and repairs RF, audio, video and digital equipment. Must
also have a general knowledge of fiber networks. Ensures proper equipment
operation according to manufacturers' specifications and system design. Position
will work closely with various site/teleport engineers in the field either
remotely or on site, to resolve issues affecting local channel uplink quality.
Requires the following:
Must possess and be able to maintain a good driving record.
Minimum five years experience in the following: video and audio signal
processing (analog and digital), 8VSB and NTSC broadcast specifications, off-air
head-end systems; receive antenna installation including construction and
maintenance.
BSEE degree in the electronics/broadcast domain desired. SBE certification
and/or general class FCC license also a plus. Military training in RF,
electronics or video, with experience will also be considered.
Must be proficient in the use of: spectrum analyzers, vector scope/waveform
monitors, oscilloscopes and working with PC computers in an NT networking
environment.
Must also be able to read circuit diagrams/flow charts and fault-finding
equipment down to component level.
Excellent interpersonal skills will be necessary for dealing with clients in a
friendly and professional manner.
Attention to detail and the ability to follow through are critical.

Broadcast Engineer. This is an entry-level position with an excellent
opportunity to learn Broadcast Engineering from the ground up. Experience
working in broadcast engineering, cable systems, or computer networks is a plus.
A two year degree in computer or electronic engineering is preferred but not
mandatory. Assignments are extremely varied and include working on the

Job Description: We are currently seeking a Field Engineer to
support our operations throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Field Engineer will
work from a home office in the Portland, Oregon area. The Field Engineer will be
responsible for the following:
Leading technical engineering support for the maintenance and build of regional
Local Collection Facilities.
Perform RF signal surveys to FCC specifications, investigate interference
issues, provide and implement recommendations for resolution. Position requires
inspection, validation and repair of baseband and SDI audio/video installations
and drawings.
Troubleshoot video and audio impairments to component level, have strong
knowledge of ATSC & NTSC signal components and specifications, and various
ANSI/SMPTE protocols.
Fabricate and label cables as required.
Perform field commissioning and maintenance of MPEG compression and multiplexing
equipment. Position will assist in troubleshooting vendor owned POTS, ASI, DS-3
and Optical transmission circuits.
Qualifications:
BS or AS Degree in an Engineering discipline.
Professional certifications will be considered in lieu of the Technical Degree
requirement with a minimum of five (5) years technical experience in a
Television Broadcast, Cable or Telco environment working on digital and analog
broadcast & transmission systems, including RF, baseband, fiber,
compression, networking, and satellite.
Proficiency in ATSC & NTSC terrestrial RF systems and their various
components, MPEG compression systems, and Telco fiber systems
A general knowledge of baseband audio/video, digital audio/video, satellite
transmission systems, computer networking systems (Ethernet, Serial, TCP/IP and
Video Over IP), electrical power systems (AC/DC) and telco/data co-location
protocols are necessary.
Strong oral and written communications and highly developed organizational
skills required.
Must have extensive range in lifting/carrying and be able to remove and install
technical equipment.
Requires hand/eye coordination, high manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
Must have well developed interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
as required.
Individual will be asked to provide verification of a valid U.S. driver's
license, favorable motor vehicle record, with a reliable vehicle and appropriate
insurance coverage.
Individual must have own credit card with the ability to expense travel costs
prior to reimbursement.
Position requires almost full-time travel, usually working in an overnight
maintenance support capacity and the ability to work outdoors on tall buildings
in adverse weather conditions.
